Growing weed 2012.Indoor update.

Its no secret by now that I truly enjoy growing weed. So its been ages since I have posted and its about time for an update on my indoor grow.As I have mentioned in previous posts,I decided around Christmas to do a little indoor grow to cover my personal smoking needs untill the summer, even though growing weed indoors is not really my thing, what with me being more of an outdoor grow girl!

I chose Critical by Advanced for my seeds and must say it was a great choice, these seeds truly made for a stress free grow,I chose them mainly to support one of our great Spanish seed banks, and was so pleasantly surprised by the quality ,I have no doubt I will be using them again in the not too distant future.

growing weed 300x225 Growing weed 2012.Indoor update. After cutting down the light cycle to 12 hours for my indoor grow, beautiful aromatic buds started to flourish very quickly. Now as much as I dont enjoy growing weed indoors it was a joy to see these plants flower so fast, and although Advanced recommend 7 weeks for flowering indoors,I left them a little longer as those buds just kept getting bigger and bigger!

So around March time, the ladies had 2012 indoor grow 300x225 Growing weed 2012.Indoor update.been flowering for around seven weeks and were starting to look somehing like so… Now normally when growing weed,I am not a huge fan of using products but for this indoor grow I used a little “Monster Grow” with care to not be too heavy handed, and other than a little bit of the usual “yellow leaf” towards the end of the grow, things went smoothly and around the end of March I decided it was harvest time!

Anyways, more updates on the way soon, thankyou all for the nice emails and messages, dont forget to sign up to my rss feed for more updates on my outdoor grow and harvest guide coming soon!

So is growing weed easy?Well,Its not rocket Science thats for sure

Are people telling the truth when they say growing weed is easy? If so Does a stoner chick really need to buy books, search webpages for expert opinions, research scientific explanations and study detailed grow guides to smoke a nice bit of bud?

“I think not. Growing weed is either very simple or I am gifted in some special way (not ruling it out yet,but hey its unlikely).”

So what exactly can a stoner chick,or anyone else, do to make growing weed easy? I read the books and guides and feel maybe some people over complicate things, obsess over unimportant issues and minute details when it comes to growing weed, after all it is only a weed. With a “weed” that we will probably  grow from an expensive seed in even more expensive soil mix and a special fertilizer “strongly recommended” to us by the guy at our local grow shop, how hard can it really be to grow good weed?

easytogrowweed 225x300 So is growing weed easy?Well,Its not rocket Science thats for sure

So Heres the 10 rules i stick to to make growing weed easy peasy

  1. Get the seeds, from a proper seed bank .If your looking for the way to make it easy to grow weed dont be a cheap ass and use ones you find in your weed, just get feminized seeds, pay a bit more to avoid stress of “male culling” later.
  2. Germinate the seeds in a bit of wet kitchen paper and dont do anything stoopid like touching or poking at them.
  3. Plant your germinated seeds in a nice soil mix not far under the surface,Start off in a nice sized container that she wont outgrow and save yourself the need to re pot at a later date.
  4. Dont Over do it when it comes to water and feeding. Its just plain common sense, dont go drowning those freshly germinated ladies in ridiculous amounts of water and powerful fertilizer, just take it easy, leave the soil to dry a little crusty up top before watering and ease you way into fertilizing them regarding dosage, try half measures of feed rather than over feeding and getting nutrient burn.Thinking ” the more I feed and water them the bigger they will grow” will not work out when growing weed.
  5. Dont make them suffer, get the environment right. If your doing an outdoor grow find them a nice spot with some sunshine, somewhere protected from raging gales of wind or prying eyes,I tend to ask myself “would I be happy to sit here?”.If you wouldnt want to sit outdoors on a frosty morning with your neighbours staring at you, chances are, neither does your weed.
  6. When doing an indoor grow, make it easy to grow weed by trying your best to recreate a natural as possible environment for your marijuana plants. It cant be fun growing under a hot lamp so do your best to ventilate your grow room and provide fresh air supply to your ladies, stick to the light cycle religiously (get a timer if you cant) and avoid extreme temperatures.
  7. Dont mess with them.Let them do their own thing its part of nature.Would you want to be moved around fondled and poked at every day?Make growing weed easy by not stressing your plants.
  8. Take control of pest situations! Dont let ANYTHING other than you enjoy your buds.Avoid creating any breeding grounds for insects by keeping a tidy clean environment around your plants, manually remove any insects or creatures and take action FAST in the form of organic pest control products (only if needed and always in moderation).
  9. Dont harvest too soon, yes the buds and resin are building by the day but theres no need to panic just let the buds finish growing, stay patient while they mature to their full potential, you want AT LEAST 60% of the white pistils to have turned brown.

Just dont do anything stupid,if you can keep any other plant alive and use your common sense you will find growing weed easy indoors or out.In conclusion, have fun with you grow, dont poke at your weed but instead feel free to poke around my other stoner chick posts

Dinafem, growing weed with seeds from the “big boys”

Ok,Dinafem (or as I like to call them the “big boys” of  spanish seedbanks),chances are if you know anything about  great marijuana or growing weed you have heard of them or used their seeds at some point.

Dinafem Semillas 1 300x200 Dinafem, growing weed with seeds from the big boys

Dinafem have been around for ages as far as spanish seed banks go and even though strain wise they have their own great takes on all the usual suspects  (Diesel,Critical,Power Kush, white widow) The award winning Moby Dick is undoubtedly their trade mark strain, they even call it “the beast”!And who could blame them? The fabulous love child of Haze and White widow that Dinafem lovingly created and christened as Moby Dick.

Moby Dick is a must-have strain for anyone growing weed I know in my area.A dominant sativa that produces beautiful light green buds full of cloudy trichomes that have a fresh outdoorsy smell, buds that have a delicious zingy taste when you smoke them and offer a long cerebral phsycoactive buzz,”The killer Whale” is the number one strain for outdoor growers in my area and the main reason Dinafem are one of my preferred Spanish seed banks.

Going from strength to strength over the last five years and having been the first non-dutch seed bank to win “soft Secrets girl of the year” in 2010,Dinafem have most definetly established themselves as a serious seed bank, not only in Spain but on a worldwide scale, producing powerful stable seeds that ultimately produce first class Marijuana plants and some awesome buds! If you love growing weed, you will love dinafem seeds

Dinafem also boast a great website, with a complete catalogue of seed strains to choose from, detailed growing information and advice on each strain,a handy blog with growing weed guides and of course online store.I leave you with a photo of one of my personal favorites and star of my outdoor seed selection for 2012, Moby Dick,in all her glory, courtesy of the seed specialists at Dinafem.

Incredible news today spreads like wildfire amongst marijuana consumers in Spain as the Goverment Officials in the town of Rasquera have taken the pioneering decision to let ABCDA (Barcelona Asosciation for Cannabis Consumers) use municipal land to begin growing weed.

This groundbreaking initiative promisises to create 40 Job positions in Rasquera,a small town with around 900 inhabitants ,most of which gathered last night filling the tiny town hall offering support and celebrating the towns news with great expectation as the plan gains strengh.

A favorable vote was taken and the plan was approved and Cannabis users around the country are now watching on in hopeful anticipation of this being the first of many such initiatives. The town of Rasquera will create a Public Company and sign an agreement with ABDCA allowing the club to grow weed on a section of Municipal land.

The towns Mayor Bernat Pelisa, will hold an assembly over the next few weeks where scientists lawyers and doctors will discuss, explain and answer questions regarding the finer the details of the project to the townspeople.

I,as many other Cannabis Consumers in Spain, will be on the edge of my seat with anticipation as this type of project, with the right support from goverment officials, could be the first of many exciting weed growing projects that,if managed properly, could help lift Spain out of its current financial difficulties and create much needed jobs in a country suffering crippling unemployment numbers.

So,Well done Rasquera,Thankyou Bernat Pelissa I salute you for being innovators and wish you the very best of luck for what could be the first “legal grow” In Spain!

Best Seed Banks in Spain , Kannabia

Today I wave the flag the Spanish flag, not only for Marijuana legalization and to support Cannabis Clubs and the general Marijuana movement in Spain but to salute some of the best seed banks in Spain , Kannabia will be first as I review and examine what they have to offer.

Spring is almost in the air in Spain and with warmer days and evenings getting longer Spanish growers everywhere, including myself, are  getting excited about outdoor grow season being just around the corner and sourcing a great seed selection from the best seed banks will be a must for my outdoor grow.

If you have never heard of Kannabia,The first feeling that comes to mind you when you go to their website is “COOL!” ,with the slogan “Hey Ho,Lets Grow” ,the Ramones inspired artwork and welcoming photos of the owners, the friendly layout just makes you want to jump in, check out what these people are about and what makes them one of the best seed banks in Spain.

Ramones EN 211x300 Best Seed Banks in Spain , Kannabia

So what do Kannabia have to offer for an self confessed Marijuana loving outdoor grow girl such as myself?What makes them one of the best seed banks in Spain?The catalogue boasts a nice selection of autoflowering and feminized seeds like Power Skunk,Domina Haze,Original Berry,Citrus, Mataró Blue and many more.In addition to this Kannabia also offers what I feel is a realistic viewpoint on auto flowering varieties;

“When we are asked about autoflowering varieties, we always answer that we like them as a concept. The concept of a small and fast plant applied to special needs, may make you choose them when growing.”

Kannabia as of 2012 are now offering AUTO MAX, a selection of their very best autoflowering strains boasting high yields THC levels, top psychoactivity and the best flavour. Now I must admit I have only tried autoflowering seeds once and wasnt hugely impressed, but describing their auto flowering varieties as “beasts” and having obtained up to 400 grams per plant outdoors Kannabia may be the people to convince me to try my hand with auto flowering plants again.

While browsing Kannabias catalogue and wondering if they could actually be one of the best seed banks in Spain at the moment, My attention is also inmediately grabbed by their “Queso” (Spanish for cheese!”) strain,a version that has originated from a combination of  Their very own Mazar-I-Sharif  and a clone of the inmensley popular Cheese Strain obtained from English travellers in Spain during the 90s.Now come on people,We all love tha cheeese! I cant wait to try Kannabias Spanish take on one of my all time favorite strains and I hereby salute their good taste  for developing an improved version of a classic that will no doubt be a big hit with the brits.

So in conclusion, with Kannabias level of cool and them rapidly becoming one of the best seed banks in Spain ,they will definetly be on my seed shopping list for this seasons outdoor grow!

Please feel free to comment on your experiences with Kannabia and any other awesome Spanish seed banks.Check back over the next few days for more “best seed banks in Spain” reviews.

Indoor Grow Update,Nearly Sticky Bud time!

Having setup a grow room and started an indoor marijuana grow around Christmas time, and being a strictly “outdoor grow” kinda girl, its safe to say I have now had enough indoor grow fun for one year.I Want my indoor sticky buds and I want them NOW!

The vegetative stage went well,My feminized critical seeds sprouted nicely and flourished with a 16 hour light cycle. To say I have been pleased with the seeds from Spanish seed bank “Advanced” is an understatement.Right from the word “go” no sooner than I had planted the germinated seeds they were pushing up through the soil (I went for a mix containing some coco fibre and perlite) fighting hard to get to the light and growing very fast into beautiful ,perfectly formed strong little seedlings. We even got “twins” much to my surprise as this was something I had never experienced before when planting marijuana.

Only a few days into my indoor grow disaster struck (in the form of a hungry weed eating pitbull)  4 of the 10 seedlings were severely damaged and thinking at the time they was no chance they could recuperate I moved them outdoors, leaving only 6 in my indoor grow room.

As I stuck with the 16 hour light cycle for nearly 6 weeks, as they continued to grow at an amazing rate I understood why the seed bank (Advanced Seeds) recommends only 10 days of vegetative growth for these seeds when doing an indoor grow, anymore and they turn into absolute monsters! The 6 remaining ladies kept on going, taking on a gorgeous luscious shade of green and growing some massive perfectly formed fan leaves and great chunky stems.

Around week 6 I decided time had come to change my light cycle down to 12 hours a day and trigger flowering. They have been flowering for 3 weeks now and have continued to grow far more than I anticipated.Having been the first time I planted Advanced Seeds and having been so amazed with the growth I think 6 plants is more than enough considering the lighting I have.

advancedseedbank 300x225 Indoor Grow Update,Nearly Sticky Bud time!

All in all,so far it has been a completely stress free indoor grow.Ive been using a little splash of Monster Grow now and again, which has perked them up nicely, trimmed a couple of yellowing leaves (not too concerned about these as the overall appearance and new growth has still been healthy) ,added a little more soil to the pots and am now impatiently enjoying my indoor grow watching my buds grow by the day!
